Dienes and Trains

For a while, I’ve been planning a series of posts looking at resources that can be easily used at home.

I’ve just had to explain to my train-obsessed son the difference in price between travelling to Europe by the Eurostar train (+ hotels) versus the tunnel or ferry and camping. Understandably, he’s not impressed. But that’s good, in a way, because it does mean he understood the different quantities represented.

Dienes (or Base 10) are a really useful way of showing number in a concrete way.
